NYSRPA
2013 Annual Meeting at the Wallkill Rod & Gun Club in
conjunction with their annual chicken bake. The event is open to the public and
all are welcome. Reserve early as the excellent meals may well sell out! Participating on June 8th are displays, agencies, collectors, taxidermists, gunsmiths, vendors, and outdoor sporting groups. Seminars will be conducted by USAF MSgt (Ret.) Paul Marsters. Mrs. Sheryl Thomas, host of Internet Radio Show and great spokesperson for your rights will record the events of the day for future broadcast. Oath Keepers and Sullivan County TEA Party will be on hand, and multiple politicians will appear by arrangement with NYSRPA. Range activities at the June Event raise PAC Funds. Some of the newest firearms are present. Bring your shotgun. Five Stand Clays runs until time for the mouth-watering Wallkill Rod and Gun Club Chicken Bake. "Flag Day, June 14th" is not far off, so we will hold a "Flag Retirement Ceremony." Please bring any American Flag unsuitable for display to see it honored and properly disposed of by ceremonial burning. April 17, 2013 the U.S. Senate voted to protect and defend your 2nd Amendment Rights. BUT the fight here in New York goes on because the draconian S.A.F.E. Law promoted by Governor Cuomo and promulgated by the usual suspects is mostly in effect, with even more draconian ammunition restrictions commencing in 2014. This law must be repealed. Attend and help in this effort! |

Projects of the Federation
Education
Realizing the importance of educating our young people as well as adults,
member clubs are involved with DEC
Hunter Safety Programs, Scouting, 4-H activities, and the Federation sponsors a Free Handgun Safety Course in conjunction with the Ulster County Sheriff's
Office Pistol Permit Unit.
Some notes and history regarding Pistol Licenses and/or amendments in Ulster County:
As of Jun. 10, 2011, Kropf has been informed that NYS Office of Mental Health is delaying the Pistol Permit process by not responding to background checks since March, 2011. Currently there is about 100 or more Ulster County applications being delayed due to Governor Coumo's budget cuts to the Office of Mental Health. Here's what one county in NYS is doing about it.
As of Jul. 22, 2009, Kropf has been informed that U.C. Judges are now issuing "to have and carry concealed" licenses with restrictions such as 'Hunting, fishing, target' or 'Hunting/Target' for most, if not all applicants.
As of Jun. 1, 2009, we have been advised that the Ulster County Judge(s) are requiring completion of the Federation sponsored Basic Pistol Safety Class and a hearing in front of the judge before issuance of the Upstate NY Pistol Permit License. Final determination of YOUR eligibility rests with the Licensing Officer who issues the pistol permit. The Licensing Officer in Ulster County is the Judge.
As of Jul 31, 2007 New York State Rifle & Pistol Association reported:
Sheriff Paul J. Van Blarcum is pleased to announce that Supreme Court Judge Christopher E. Cahill has authorized the Ulster County Sheriff's Office to process pistol license amendments at the Pistol License Division. This will eliminate the back log of amendments waiting approval that was created by the elevation of Hon. E. Michael Kavanagh to the NYS Appellate Court and the passing of Supreme Court Judge Vincent Bradley. On behalf of the Federation and law abiding pistol owners in Ulster County, Kropf publicly thanks Judge Chris Cahill for this action which effectively returns the amendment process to what it was before Judge Kavanagh was promoted. Pistol Permit applications will still go through the full screening process which will still take months, but the amendment process of adding, moving, or removing individual pistols from existing pistol permits is again a single trip process.
Sheriff Van Blarcum and his staff look forward to serving the gun owners of Ulster County.
As of Feb. 8, 2007, it is Kropf's understanding that Judge Bruhn and Judge Work are catching up on the backlog of amendments (such as adding a pistol to an existing license). It is also Kropf's understanding that Pistol License applications have been proceeding with only minor delays, but amendments alone were being backlogged since Judge Kavanagh was promoted to the Appellate court. Thankfully, with the help of Sheriff Van Blarcum, Chief Civil Officer Donald Ryan, and others, the amendment backlog is now being processed.
Please email Kropf with any updates.
Wildlife Propagation
A pheasant raising program has been in place for over 30 years. The pheasants
are released on public lands, approved in advance by the NYS DEC, for habitat
and for open public hunting. The Federation also stocks thousands of trout
and walleye each spring and fall in many of the streams throughout Ulster
County. In addition, the Federation is involved with waterfowl and hare
release programs, and more recently working with the Hudson Valley Branch of the Quality Deer Management
Association.
Legislation
The Federation works closely with our government representatives at the local,
state and national levels to emphasize sportments interests. Pertinent bills
are monitored throughout the legislative process in cooperation with the
NRA, the NYS Rifle & Pistol Association, the
NYS Trappers
Association, the NYS Conservation Council, the Conservation Alliance of NY
and the
US Sportsmen's Alliance.
Youth Activities
The Federation supports the Fish & Wildlife Coalition for Youth, and the
Future Fisherman
Foundation. Our Federation was one of the first in the state
to initiate the Lend-A-Pole Program. Many libraries throughout Ulster County
participate in this program. Every spring we hold our annual
Children's Fishing Contest at Lippman Park in Wawarsing.
Every year the member clubs send over 50 Ulster County youths to
NYS DEC
Environmental Education Summer Camps. Money raised by the Federation's
member clubs is also awarded through youth grants.

Our booth at the 2005 Kingston Lions Expo.
Support the Federation by joining a member club.
Simply fill out the application form. Your application will be forwarded to the nearest member club, and a representative will contact you and provide information on how to join the club.
You may send an email to the President,
